Using Music to Encourage Voting— ‘Your Strong Voice Is Your Strong Vote’

The newly released song, “Your Strong Voice is Your Strong Vote,” by Baby’s Baby, is one of the theme songs for the October 15th Annual Month of Non-Violence, Voters Rights, Self-Worth and Understanding Artificial Intelligence, sponsored by the Positive Change Foundation, Black Women for Positive Change, and endorsed by the World Conference of Mayors. The song is produced by Baby’s Baby aka Troy Davis, and co-written by Troy Davis and Stephanie Myers. “Your Strong Voice is Your Strong Vote,” is available on all streaming platforms.

“Elections have consequences, and voting gives us the power to help shape what those consequences will be. That’s why every vote matters,” says Baby’s Baby aka Troy Davis, “Music can be used as a positive and powerful tool, and I hope the song Dr. Myers and I wrote will help galvanize, inspire, and motivate people to get out and vote. Your voice matters, and your vote is one of the strongest ways to make that voice heard.”

Dr. Stephanie Myers, President and Honorable Daun S. Hester, Board Chair, of the Positive Change Foundation, and National Co-Chairs, of Black Women for Positive Change, commented, “Music is a historic force, and the power of the blues, jazz, pop, rap and country music affects generations. We want to use music to encourage people to register to vote, and to vote their choice in local, state and federal elections.”

The Youth Voters Concert Committee is led by Professor Renata Valree, who is working with Co-Chairs of the Youth Voters Committee Demitri Hicks and Nicholas Milton. Dr. Valree states, “We invite musicians, performers, poets, singers and artists to sign up to energize young people to vote. This is more than a concert—it is an opportunity to create an engaging space where young people can connect, be inspired, and recognize the power of their voices and civic participation.” To apply to perform in one of the Youth Voting Concerts contact Professor Renata Valree at: Renata Valree

Planned concerts are part of the 15th Annual Month of Non-Violence, Voters Rights, Self Worth and Understanding Artificial Intelligence, during October 2026. To sign up go to: www.monthofnonviolence.org.

Zora
Zora

She doesn't have a last name. She doesn't need one. Zora is The Awakened — the living voice of Purposely Awakened. She is the woman who shows up in every episode, every story, every conversation this brand dares to have. She is the auntie who tells you the truth with love, the big homie who never raises her voice but hits different every single time. Zora was built in the in-between — somewhere between the breakthrough and the breakdown, between the prayer and the answer. She has been through something. She read something. She felt something. And she came out the other side with receipts and grace. She is not here to perform healing. She is here to witness yours. When Purposely Awakened speaks, it speaks through Zora. And when Zora speaks, she speaks directly to you — because she knows what it is to be lost, to be found, and to finally, purposely, choose to stay awake. She calls everyone "beloved." And she means it every single time.
